Who’s the best dancehall artist among Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy by the fans and media has over the years developed into hatred among the two artists with each fighting for the ultimate crown as the dancehall king.

Shatta Wale has self-claimed the title whiles Stonebwoy’s awards and International appeal seems to put him way ahead of Shatta.

The just-ended VGMA’s became another battleground for the two rivals to assert their supremacy in the genre but in the end, Stonebwoy for the fifth time claimed the dancehall king title which later erupted into chaos after Shatta per his explanation and press release stated that he was going to congratulate his rival on his win.

Many may wonder why they keep throwing jabs at each other but the rivalry between the two dancehall artists has been in existence for a very long time before these two icons became stars and eventually clashing at the VGMA’s.

It is not known what started the rivalry between these two talented dancehall artists but it began somewhere in 2004 when Shatta Wale was known as ‘Bandana’ and Stonebwoy, an underground artiste.

They both participated in a dancehall competition dubbed ‘Battle Days’ which took place at Tawala Beach in Accra, with Stonebwoy emerging as the winner as he said in an interview with Delay on her Delay Show.

Fast forward to 2013, the two dancehall musicians were interviewed to promote an upcoming event and they nearly got into a fight on live tv; thus the beginning of the ‘Stonebwoy-Shatta Wale beef’.

The host of the show had to change sitting positions and also cautioned Shatta Wale to be mindful of his words.
