After some people commended Davido for being his “brother’s keeper” and facilitating the release of Zlatan Ibile, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) says reports the musician helped in securing a bail for his colleague are false.
EFCC stresses that contrary to suggestions Davido hired a Senior Advocate of Nigeria to help secure a bail for Zlatan Ibile, the musician on record, did no such.
Zlatan, Naira Marley and three others were arrested on May 10 in connection with an alleged case of internet fraud and money laundering.
The three others were identified as Tiamiu Abdulrahman Kayode, Adewunmi Adeyanju Moses and Abubakar Musa.
Days after their arrest, the anti-graft agency has released all except Naira Marley on administrative bail.
Explaining why Marley was still in their custody, EFCC spokesman, Tony Orilade said: “There is overwhelming evidence against Naira Marley; so we can’t afford to release him on administrative bail like Zlatan and the three others.
“That Zlatan has been released does not mean they have been discharged and acquitted.Naira Marley is still in our custody and will be charged to court soon and we will make the charges known in an official statement soon.”
