Fans of Zayn Malik and Selena Gomez are convinced all over again that a collaboration is in the works after the One Direction star followed the ‘Rare’ songstress on Instagram this week, and she followed him back days later.
They’re both thought to be working on new albums this year, so the timing actually couldn’t be perfect if the pop powerhouses were to collaborate.
Eagle-eyed fans have also pointed out Zayn’s manager recently liked a post of Selena’s too, with Zayn fans quickly declaring: “The collab is real.”
It’s also important to note Zayn only follows 18 people on Instagram, so it’s kind of a big deal that Selena’s now on his exclusive list.
It’s not the first time collab rumours have circulated about the pair.
In January 2021 Zayn did a takeover for Spotify’s ‘Pop and Play’ playlist and added a number of Selena’s bops to the mix.
It wasn’t long before fans started to notice some other details, like Zayn’s description box on YouTube at the time reading, “pathetically aesthetic,” with an orange emoji.
It came after the former Disney star shared a post on Instagram with three oranges placed next to her, and fans instantly thought the artists were dropping hints!

At the time of writing Zayn’s profile still holds the same comment, but without the oranges.
To fuel the speculation, while on Instagram live around the same time Zayn apparently (erroneously) started playing Selena’s song ‘Lose You To Love Me’ and not one of his new releases as he listened to his album with fans.
However, even though a collab hasn’t been confirmed as of yet, all we know is that the Rare Beauty makeup mogul has some new music in the works!
She said during her Jimmy Fallon interview on The Tonight Show in December: “I’m just so used to writing sad girl songs because I’m good at that, but I’m ready to have some fun. And I think people are going to like it.”
Zayn also announced on his Spotify bio at the end of last year that he’s working on his fourth studio album.
Sounds like the perfect time for these two to team up, right?
