Wizkid and businessman Tony Elumelu hang out in Mali
Billionaire Businessman and philanthropist Tony Onyemaechi Elumelu has shared a photograph of himself and Wizkid having a chat ahead of the launch of UBA in Mali.
It is unclear what conversation they engaged in as the posts of both personalities were silent. The two, clad in sports apparels, however were captured smiling as Tony showed Wizkid something on his phone.
Tony Elumelu owns a controlling interest in Transcorp, a publicly traded Nigerian conglomerate with interests in hospitality, agriculture, oil production and power generation.
He came into the limelight in 1997 when he led a small group of investors to take over a small, floundering commercial bank in Lagos. He turned it profitable within a few years and in 2005 he merged it with the United Bank for Africa.
That banking group now has subsidiaries in 20 African countries and in the U.S and U.K. Elumelu also owns extensive real estate across Nigeria and a minority stake in mobile telecom firm MTN Nigeria, among other assets.
Wizkid on the other hand is one of the most successful, richest and celebrated musicians on the continent. He has to his credit a number of awards including the BET and MTV awards. Having introduced the afrobeats genre to a new demographic, the artiste and record label founder has worked with other great acts such as Drake, Akon and Chris Brown.
