Why Tamar Braxton Says She’s Keeping Her Relationship with Her Fiancé JR Robinson ‘Completely Private’ Now
Braxton and Robinson got engaged in March 2023, split in October and reconciled in December
Tamar Braxton is withdrawing her personal life from the public eye.
In a recorded live conversation from Carlos King’s Reality with The King tour, Braxton, 47, fielded questions about her engagement to Jeremy “JR” Robinson, whom she speculated that her fans “do not like,” provoking crowd uproar. Several audience members posted that the singer was hiding her engagement ring, which King, 44, relayed to her onstage.
“I’m not hiding anything,” Braxton clarified. “The truth of the matter is JR and I decided we would keep our relationships completely private. No matter what the status is, we decided we would keep it private from everyone.”
Her rationale for the decision originated from Ashanti, who Braxton said “works and minds her f—ing business.” The TV personality explained that Ashanti and Nelly rekindled their romance and “we don’t know nothing about it.”
“And here they are living happily ever after with no drama and no interference. One day, I would love to have that life,” she confessed.
Braxton wanted the public to focus less on her love life and more on her artistry, music and TV shows. The Love and War songstress recalled people urging her to reconcile with her ex-husband Vincent Herbert, a situation from which she is “so far removed.”
“It was the fact that I had really worked my ass off and created this 10-year anniversary tour, and that whole relationship issue overshadowed all of the hard work that I put into it,” she told King. “The talk of the town wasn’t how I was the only artist that was able to bring back an album that was 10 years old, bring it back and sell out the same venues as Victoria Monét, Sexyy Red. … And also be my own promoter.”
For Braxton, the gossip overshadowing her achievements influenced her choice to become more private. She concluded, “That’s why I won’t talk about that no more. Now you get it.
Robinson and Braxton first met on the dating show Queen’s Court, where the lawyer proposed to her during the March 2023 season finale. Although the couple split seven months later, they reunited and, on Christmas Day, became engaged for the second time.
