As the contest for the MUSIGA National Executives inches closer, Kaakyire Kwame Appiah has predicted that Bessa Simons presidency will worse off, should he be elected as the National President.

The former first Vice President of the Musicians Union of Ghana, Kaakyire Kwame Appiah, alleged that his reason for stepping down as the first vice is that the administration of Bice Osei Kuffour (Obour), whose tenure of office as National President of MUSIGA ends in May 2019 is full of corrupt practices.

He further predicted that the association would not be any better in the event that Bessa Simons succeeds Obour as the National President of MUSIGA.

He also explained that MUSIGA association has become cartel where favourites are elected to succeed the outgoing to cover up their corrupt track. Despite his love for Bessa, Obour and Bessa Simons are birds of the same feather, flocking together he stated.

“If Bessa Simons says he will contest for the National President of MUSIGA, then we have a very long way to go, Trust me. I love Bessa so much but it’s like when one finishes his tenure, he get a successor to handover to prevent being thoroughly audited,” he said.

“One thing I have realized with the way things are going is that, when one doesn’t want his track to be uncovered, he gets his favourite to cover up for him. I constantly get calls from stakeholders urging me to contest for the National Presidency position but I told them, please! At the close of the day, others will go behind closed doors and make payment to become the President,” he added.

Speaking on Kasapa Entertainment Show with Kojo Preko Dankwa, the ‘Yeekodi’ highlife hitmaker and songwriter when asked why he has not been bold enough to speak out on these issues till now said,

“It has become something like, we those in the music and movie industry are always washing our dirty linen in public. Besides, at my current age, it wouldn’t be prudent for me to be roaming from one radio station to another and also to avoid people from misconstruing my statements. So I decided to save my little integrity left but our industry has a big problem especially GHAMRO,” he explained.

Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA), has set June 28, 2019, as the date for its national elections. This year, members who are eligible to vote can do the same at their regional branches.
