Ghanaian reggae dancehall artistes Livingstone Etse Satekla, known in showbiz as Stonebwoy and his archival, Charles Nii Armah Mensah Jr., also known as Shatta Wale are to return all awards won at this year’s Vodafone Ghana Music Awards.
The decision to withdraw their awards was taken on Thursday by the board of the award scheme.
The two musicians and their followers were engaged in a brawl that saw one of them pulling out a shortgun.
The board has subsequently ordered Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale to immediately return all awards they received to Charterhouse Ghana Limited.
The awards are in the form of plagues they received for winning certain categories the were nominated for on the night.
The Chief Executive Officer of Charter House, Theresa Ayoade, explaining the company’s decision said it was taken after “careful deliberations” and “extensive consultation” with stakeholders in the music industry.
