Uncle Murda‘s annual “Rap Up” continues to ruffle feathers, this time with the Brooklyn pastor who was infamously robbed of $1 million on camera, Bishop Lamor Whitehead.
The polarizing preacher responded to Murda’s name-drop in a post on his Instagram Story on Wednesday (January 4). While saying he loves the Brooklyn rapper, he also challenged him to a fight in the ring to hash out whatever issues he may have.
“Let me just say this ya’ll, me and Uncle Murda ain’t got no beef, me and 50 ain’t got no beef…it’s all love,” Bishop Whitehead said. “They rap, they do what they gotta do, however when I listened to the ‘Rap Up,’ I said, ‘Dang Uncle. Dang man, Uncle Murda man, I ain’t really like that. I’m from Brooklyn; if you’re friends with somebody and y’all have a disagreement, you put on the boxing gloves.
“I love Uncle Murda, man, he’s always been cool,” he continued. “I just don’t like the ‘Rap Up.’ Let’s get in the ring, man. Let’s get in the ring.”
On the 2022 “Rap Up,” Murda mentioned the incident where Bishop Whitehead was robbed earlier in the year and then called him a scammer.
“Man, n-ggas ran up in the church like it’s a stickup/ It was only eight people in there when they robbed the Bishop,” Murda raps on the track. “When I heard about it, real talk, I burst out laughing/ God don’t like ugly, that’s why he let that shit happen/ He was out here scamming people in the name of God/ Feds came and locked him up, I know he was a fraud/ He be dressing like a rapper that shit ain’t even funny/ He be buying Louis and Gucci with them people money.”
Freddie Gibbs and Bobby Smhurda also responded to their mentions on the song after its release on New Year’s Day.
Uncle Murda referenced Shmurda’s recent feud with NBA YoungBoy on the track, to which he made a video saying: “Murda, I’m a changed man, Murda. I’m a changed man. I’m different, I’m tryna change, Murda. I ain’t trying to boom nobody no more.”
As for Gibbs, his alleged beat down at the hands of associates of Benny The Butcher in May came up on the song.
“Uncle Murda be friendly as a box of puppies every time I see him,” Gibbs said in a tweet in response.
