When almost everyone was scolding Regina Daniels [now said to be 22 years old] for marrying 59-year-old billionaire Prince Ned Nwoko, comedienne Helen Paul jumped to her defence calling out women who had spoken against the actress hypocrites and asking why they always want to tear each other down.
To her, it is simply nobody’s business who the other chooses to marry, adding that there are several challenges the country is confronted with which ought to be criticised than a personal issue.
“Hypocrisy of the highest order,” she intimated. “Ladies are used to killing and condemning each other. Do you know what she has gone through?
“Do you know what pushed her and her family to go into such a marriage? Why are we quick to judge women? The woman did this, the woman did that, What about the men? Please let us leave issues that are sorted and focus on matters that truly need attention. Nigeria is so big. Plenty problems to be solved o… Everybody na sinner! Better matter no go trend o. #actor #react”
As expected, her comment attracted varied reactions; notable among them is Uche Maduagwu’s.
The actor argues that Dr. Helen Paul got it all wrong.
Addressing the comedienne in an Instagram post, he said:
“In this modern age, and with all the paraphernalia and gymnastics of feminism, it will be perturbing if we as celebrities, mothers and concerned women, do not viciously question the UGLY narrative of a young girl, who should be in the University studying to liberate the GIRL child from the valley of backwardness in Nigeria in FUTURE, who is now allegedly getting married to a very OLD man, even if other women criticizes such anomaly, we should also condemn it outright.”
