Travis Scott Tells Kevin Durant His ‘Utopia’ Album Will Be ‘Fucking Insane’

Travis Scott‘s forthcoming album, Utopia, is one of the year’s most anticipated releases, and two-time NBA champion Kevin Durant believes it will be worth the wait.

On the latest episode of The ETCs with Kevin Durant, the Phoenix Suns star forward said he heard La Flame’s album might be some of his best work yet. According to KD, he wants to get his hands on some tracks but knows it won’t be that easy, given how tight-lipped Travis keeps things regarding his music.

“I didn’t hear it, and I want to ask for some songs, but I know for a fact he won’t send them, so I might have to catch him in the studio one of these days before it comes out, but he’s telling me that it’s fucking insane,” Durant said regarding the album.

The journey to Utopia has been a long and arduous journey that started in July 2020 when Travis Scott first mentioned the name in an Instagram post. He teased it again on the second anniversary of his third studio album, Astroworld, but things would come to a halt after 10 people died at his Astroworld Festival in November 2021.

The Astroworld Festival tragedy put a pause on things for Travis and the album up until August 2022, when the rapper announced a one-week residency at the Zouk Nightclub in Las Vegas, known as the Road to Utopia, that ran from September 17 to September 24.

In that same month, the Houston native performed at The O2 Arena in London, where he performed more snippets, including “God’s Country,” which was a leftover track on Kanye West’s Donda album.

Epic Records CEO Sylvia Rhone teased the project for the end of 2023’s quarter two during her acceptance speech for Billboard’s Executive of the Year at their 2023 Women In Music event.

“We have a new Travis Scott record, expected to come in June,” she revealed.

Fans were excited at the release date for Trav’s fourth album coming from the high-profile executive, but are still taking it with a grain of salt with Scott’s unpredictability, especially after he announced several other Cactus Jack artists will drop before him.

At a 2023 NBA All-Star Weekend event in Salt Lake City, Travis Utopia said would be released after Don Toliver, Sheck Wes, and SoFaygo release their projects.

“Sheck Wes, You Know The Scouts is on the way, we got Faygo about to put out a lil EP that’s on the way, and right after that, Utopia,” Scott said. “So we came here with that message and I can’t wait for these [muthafuckas] to drop this shit.”
