Travis Kelce was inspired to break out his take on a Taylor Swift classic on the latest episode of his “New Heights” podcast.
During a discussion with brother Jason Kelce about Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley’s return to New Jersey to face the New York Giants, his former team, over the weekend, Jason, 36, said, “There’s obviously bad blood there.”
Travis, 35, then pulled his microphone close and sang, “Now we’ve got bad blood,” a nod to Swift’s song from 2014’s 1989, purported to be about her then-feud with Katy Perry.
While the moment brought a slight smile to Travis’ face, older brother Jason didn’t even notice and kept talking about Saquon and his return to his old stomping grounds.
The phrase “bad blood” has actually been a hot topic on “New Heights” recently, with Jason using the phrase on the podcast in September to discuss the Chiefs’ rivalry with the Cincinnati Bengals.
“OK, bad blood,” Travis said. “I hear you, bad blood.”
Jason responded, “I don’t even try and do it, but it just happens,” which delighted his younger brother.
“It’s just in you now,” Travis said. “It’s in you.”
Jason, however, disagreed with Travis’ hypothesis. “Well, no,” he said. “I just think [Taylor] does a good job of using these very common phrases that people would use regardless.”
Well, not everybody, as Travis would admit.
“I had never heard of ‘bad blood’ until she…” Travis said, as Jason stopped his brother before further embarrassing himself.
With a laugh, Jason said, “You gotta be…bro.”
Travis previously sang a similar snippet of “Bad Blood” during a “New Heights” episode in March, when he and Jason discussed quarterback Kenny Pickett’s trade from the Pittsburgh Steelers to the Eagles.
“Their relationship ended in a little bad blood,” Travis crooned. “Because Kenny is saying he preferred to move on.”
Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift Were ‘Dying Laughing’ When Jason Said ‘Tits’ on ESPN
While Jason might not have caught Travis’ singing skills on Wednesday’s episode, moments earlier he used the podcast to clear up a little bad blood of his own. Namely, the rumor that he fell asleep at the Eras Tour with his wife, Kylie Kelce, and their two oldest daughters over the weekend.
“I did not take a nap,” Jason said, after pictures went viral of him at the concert with his eyes closed.
Jason explained that he was “just feeling it” and “in the moment listening to the song.”
