QUEENS, NY – On what would have been Jam Master Jay’s 54th birthday, his son TJ Mizell and A-Trak have collaborated for a tribute video to the late Run-DMC legend.

Simply titled, “Happy Birthday Jam Master Jay Tribute,” the visual finds both DJs remixing and sampling the pioneering Hip Hop trio’s music.

“I have looked up to A-Trak since I started my DJ Career and have built a dope relationship through the years,” Mizell said in a press release. “When I asked him to do this, he was more than happy to be a part of it.”

“Right now I’m with my younger brother in Japan on a snowboarding trip,” Mizell tells HipHopDX. “Usually on this day, we like to spend time with our friends and family and reflect on his life.”

JMJ was killed on October 30, 2002 inside his Jamaica, Queens studio at the age of 37. Netflix premiered the ReMastered: Who Killed Jam Master Jay? documentary last month, which explored the details of the case.

In archival footage of the night it happened, Public Enemy’s Chuck D and many of JMJ’s peers arrive at the scene in disbelief. It remains one of Hip Hop’s biggest unsolved murders, alongside the murders of Tupac Shakur and The Notorious B.I.G.
