Three police officers who were deployed for Operation Calm-Life snap-check in Kakpayili, a suburb of Tamale in the Northern region have been attacked and their weapons seized by armed men suspected to be robbers last Sunday.
The officers have been identified as Samuel Yeboah, Detornu Brigitte and Maduku Amoh.
According to reports, the attackers, numbering three, stormed the checkpoint and opened fire at the officers and seized two AK 47 guns fully loaded with 20 rounds of ammunition each.
Reports revealed by the Police to Adom News suggest the gunmen fled with the weapons, leaving bruises on the police officers.
Three empty shells suspected to be that of Sub Machine Gun (SMG) were retrieved after the matter was reported to the regional headquarters.
