On Friday, March 16, Kofas Media and Old Film productions launched the first of many projects they hope to embark on. A comic movie titled ‘Away Bus’.

The comedy which seeks to highlight security on highways, family and man’s insatiable desire for money feature many top stars including Mikki Osei Berko, John Dumelo, Tracey Boakye, Moesha Bodoung, Kalybos, Big Akwes, Yvonne Okoro, Salma Mumin, Abeiku Santana, Yaw Dabo, among others.

Addressing journalists at the launch of the film, the Chief Executive Officer of Kofas Media expressed his delight with the partnership which he contends will serve the greater good of the Ghanaian movie industry.

He admitted that the woes of the movie industry could be attributed to the lack of co-productions as it allows organizations to join forces and churn out productions that meet market demands.

“I see this as an opportunity to build my capacity in running a co-production successfully, especially, as I intend to engage in similar co-productions with international production houses in the not too distant future. “Sometimes, the limited funding and human resources affect the quality of work, but with collaborations and co-productions, movie producers would be able to bridge that gap of inadequacies due to the collective efforts and resource accumulation”, he said.

Actress Moesha Boduong is one of many stars in the movie who were present at the unveiling.

Moesha, according to the filmmakers will be playing role of Anita, a passenger on the bus.

Typical of Ghanaian meetings and events, the launch started and ended with opening and closing prayers.

The opening prayer was delivered by Zion Felix of Zionfelix.com with the responsibility of saying the closing prayers falling on Moesha who appeared surprised by her selection.

The choice of Moesha as the person to say the closing prayers did not only surprise the actress but almost everyone present.

After fumbling in her first and second attempts, the visibly tensed Moesha managed to weave her way out ‘humiliation’ with a short prayer that was met with a raucous ‘Amen’ and clap.
