Terrorism: Agyinasare intercedes for Ghana
Bishop Charles Agyinasare, on Friday, 31 May 2019, led his Perez Chapel International congregation at the Perez Dome, Dzorwulu, to pray for Ghana and other nations against terrorist attacks.
The intercessory prayers followed the recent arrest of an armed Burkinabe man, Bilgo Tibila Desire, in a Catholic church at Hamile, a hamlet in the Upper West Region of Ghana a week earlier.
He had a pistol loaded with nine bullets.
A few weeks prior, over 300 Burkinabes fled into Ghana’s northern zone following a 12 May 2019 terrorist attack on a church in Dablo, a town in northern Burkina Faso, during Sunday prayers, which led to the death of a priest and six church members.
The attackers torched the church after emptying their guns.
Exactly two weeks later, on 26 May 2019, there was a similar gun attack on another Catholic church at Toulfe during Sunday prayers that led to the death of four worshippers.
Subsequently, two Ghanaian transnational truck drivers were killed in one of such terrorist attacks at a border town called Koury between Burkina Faso and Mali.
They were identified as Muhammed Moumen and Suleiman Gariba.
The fear of terrorist attacks hitting home compelled Ghana’s security authorities to meet with the heads of the various Christian churches in the country to put in place counter-terrorism and vigilance measures as part of efforts to foil any potential threat.
As a result of the security consciousness that arose due to the terrorist threats, various churches, including Perez Chapel International, have put in place certain security measures such as body screening to help foil any eventuality.
But beyond the physical security preparations, Bishop Agyinasare led his church in intercessory prayers to seek the face of God in confronting the terrorist threats.
The anti-terrorist intercessory prayers were said at the end of Bishop Agyinasare’s Supernatural Empowerment Summit, which was graced by Bishop Tudor Bismarck, Apostle Prof Opoku Onyinah, Rev Sam Korankye Ankrah and Pastor Ayodele Joseph Oritsegbubemi Oritsejafor.
With the congregation hoisting miniature Ghana flags and flags of others nations, Bishop Agyinasare, who also had a huge Ghana flag, led the faithful to pray thus: “Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, we stand on your word, our flags are lifted up as a point of contact for this nation; if You don’t watch the nation, the security forces do but in vain. We beseech you oh Lord, that there will be a bloodline over our nation, we pray that Lord, for any plan of the terrorist, it will be exposed. Any plan for them to hit soft targets and hard targets, we ask that it be bound in the name of Jesus. We pray that they will not attack supermarkets, they will not attack schools, they will not attack churches, they will not attack public places in the name of Jesus. We take authority over every plan of the devil, we come against every spirit of kidnapping in the name of Jesus, we bind every spirit of kidnapping and terror, every spirit of fear and panic, by the power of the Holy Ghost, in the name of Jesus”.
A few days after Bishop Agyinasare’s intercessory prayers, another Burkinabe gunman, Tengen Dunor, who wielded a locally manufactured gun, was also arrested on Wednesday, 5 June 2019 at on the Ghana side of the Hamile border while attempting to buy some alcohol.
