The latest addition to Taylor Swift’s accessory lineup is turning heads—and not just because she’s the one wearing it. When Swift attended boyfriend Travis Kelce’s Kansas City Chiefs game on November 10, in a red matching set from Versace, fans couldn’t help but notice the pop star’s new grandpacore-inspired bling: a gold Louis Vuitton watch.
Aside from the fact that Swift’s new timepiece is solid gold, her watch is special for another reason. Named the Tambour by the French fashion house, the watch was launched just last year, and offers a slimmed down version of an older LV style that was traditionally worn by men. Today, however, the Tambour is a more of unisex style, thanks to the likes of style mavens like Swift.
The Tambour marks an important turning point for LV, who purchased watch movement manufacturer La Fabrique du Temps in 2011. Since then, the brand has worked tirelessly to produce high-quality, “everyday” watches for consumers. Swift’s expensive accessory comes with a hefty price tag of $54,000, but, of course, Swift’s “everyday” looks a little different than the average person.
While Swift’s love of Louis Vuitton actually dates back years (case in point: her custom LV red carpet gowns), she rarely opts for a statement watch, with a few notable exceptions. Such as? The 2024 Grammy Awards, of course, where her choker watch (courtesy of Lorraine Schwartz) was cleverly set to 12:00, a.k.a. midnight. Before the launch of The Tortured Poet’s Department, Swift teased the 2 a.m. release of the second part with clocks in the announcement of her “Fortnight” music video. Swifties have been waiting with bated breath for the release of Reputation (Taylor’s Version) for months, looking for Easter eggs in her outfits every time she steps out or performs. As to whether or not her latest accessory contains any album-related symbolism? Only time will tell.
