Taylor Swift to release song with Ice Spice amid Matty Healy controversy
The “Karma” remix by Taylor Swift featuring Ice Spice is set to drop Thursday as part of the deluxe version of the “Midnights” album, the singer announced Wednesday. It’s clear that the collaboration is in response to Matt Healy’s comments about the rapper.
Swift, 33, recently started dating Healy, 34, following her split from longtime partner Joe Alwyn. The frontman of “The 1975” band drew criticism after crude comments regarding Ice Spice.
During a podcast appearance, Healy sat idly by as the show’s hosts called Ice Spice an “Inuit Spice Girl” and a “chubby Chinese lady”, while also mimicking Chinese accents.
At one point, Healy suggested the hosts impersonate Japanese people working at concentration camps, leading to his half-hearted apology.
“I just feel a bit bad, and I’m kind of a bit sorry if I’ve offended you. Ice Spice, I’m sorry,” Healy said during a concert. “It’s not because I’m annoyed that me joking got misconstrued. It’s because I don’t want Ice Spice to think I’m a d-k. I love you, Ice Spice. I’m so sorry.”
Taylor Swift is happier than ever
Swift, who is currently on tour, has received backlash for dating Healy, but she doesn’t seem to mind.
In fact, she recently said that life finally makes sense for her, likely referencing Healy.
“I kind of feel like telling you … I’ve just never been this happy in my life, in all aspects of my life, ever before,” Swift said. “And I just want to thank you for being a part of that. It’s not just the tour. I just sort of feel like my life finally feels like it makes sense.”
Healy has made headlines for several reasons, not all good, especially when stating that he likes watching adult content in which Black women are mistreated.
