The Tarkwa-Nsuaem Municipal Assembly has contracted Greenfield Ghana Limited, a revenue mobilisation company to help them generate revenue for the assembly.

The company would use paperless means to collect revenue for the assembly.

Mr Gilbert Kennedy Asmah, Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), for Tarkwa-Nsuaem, announced this at the first ordinary meeting of the assembly in Tarkwa and hoped the intervention would improve its Internally Generated Fund (IGF).

Mr. Asmah indicated that as of December 31, 2018, the assembly’s IGF was GHC13, 135,444.48 representing 76.45 per cent as against the estimated figure of GHC 17,182,138.98.

He stated that the assembly spent a total amount of GHC12, 966,602.71 representing 98.71 per cent, adding that, physical projects took a chunk of the funds and most projects awarded in 2018 were completed and handed over.

The completed projects he said included; the assembly’s office complex, wood village, renovation of the Tarkwa Magistrate court and some senior officers bungalow, construction of a three-unit classroom block and supply of 1000 furniture to pupils and teachers in the municipality.

On road, he said contracts were awarded for re-sealing, patching of potholes and grading of selected roads within the Municipality.

All the projects would be undertaken by the department of urban roads with funding from the Ghana Road Fund.

According to the MCE, the assembly was in the process of providing link roads and as part of the exercise, culverts along Ahwetieso-Boamakrom, Cyanide-Prisons quarters, Mantemankabi, Akyem- DVLA and Tamso New roads were constructed.

On health, he explained that plans were far advanced for the construction of a polyclinic at Nsuaem.

He noted that the project would be executed through the collaboration of donor partners and the Ministry of Health with support from the Tarkwa-Nsuaem Municipal Assembly.

In addition, Mr. Asmah said the Dompim health centre was commissioned and mechanised boreholes were constructed for Mahamo and Benso health facilities and emphasised that Accra Mining Network provided a mechanised borehole for Simpa health centre.

Mr Asmah further added that the Member of Parliament for Tarkwa-Nsuaem constituency, Mr George Mireku Duka renovated the place of convenience for the Simpa health centre and also procured ten computers to improve data management in some selected health facilities in the Municipality.

He said work was ongoing for the Mile-5 chips compound.

On security, the MCE said the assembly together with Wassa Fiase mediation team was preparing to construct a duty post for duty bearers at the Kyekyewire and Bonsa barriers.

The MCE called on all assembly members to support and help in the development of the municipality.
