As everyone continues to weigh in on the Will Smith and Chris Rock situation from 2022 Oscars, Steve Harvey offered his take on the matter and doesn’t seem convinced that Smith would’ve slapped Rock under different circumstances.

Harvey believes that Smith only slapped Chris Rock for making the joke aimed at Jada Pinkett Smith after seeing her reaction. He also pointed out how the circumstances of Rock hosting the ceremony on stage lent Smith the opportunity to slap him without Rock reacting. He added that Smith should’ve confronted Rock in the pressroom about the joke, and if he wanted to slap him there, the outcome could’ve gone differently.
Steve also took issue with Will’s initial apology while accepting the award for Best Actor. According to the legendary comedian, Smith’s apology was “raggedy” and believes that he will eventually be banned from the Oscars.
