Fans went wild and agitated last Saturday when 3Music Awards had a late start, an unfortunate situation some people think stole the shine of the show.
The event, according to the initial schedule, was to start around 9:05pm, but technical hitches pushed the commencement of the event into the late night at about 11:15pm.
Some fans believed the opening act, Dancehall act Shatta Wale was the cause as some rumoured that organisers were waiting for him to appear at the event grounds.
But, speaking on Daybreak Hitz on Hitz FM, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of 3Music Awards, Sadiq Abdulai Abu rubbished the claims.
Detailing what led to the late start of the show, the CEO disclosed that “we rather delayed Shatta Wale. He was at the event grounds in the afternoon. We had to hold him at a time. It is never true he delayed the start of the programme.”
He added that, “Shatta Wale was there at 7:pm. We didn’t want him to come to the backstage for long. Technical and VIP issues that delayed him and the event had to start late,” he told Andy Dosty.
