Serena Williams Endures 3 Minutes in -110° for Cryotherapy Session: ‘I Can Feel a Difference’
Serena Williams Endures 3 Minutes in -110° for Cryotherapy Session – Serena WIlliams is testing her limits, sharing the progress of her sessions in ultra-cold cryotherapy chambers where temperatures dip to -110°.
“This was Day 2 of cryotherapy. What an experience I lasted the full 3 minutes this time ! 🙂↕️😝,” Williams, 43, wrote on a June 19 Instagram post. For the frosty-cold session, the tennis icon wore a dark two-piece that exposed her stomach and legs to the frigid temperatures, but protected her ears with a thick headband, and her extremities with oversized white gloves and shin-length socks.
As Williams shared in her post, the temperature in the cryotherapy chamber was -110°. Cryotherapy for athletes — when administered in a trained, supervised environment — may benefit the nervous system and reduce muscle soreness, according to Mass General Brigham. It works by activating a stress response, and “as a result, it can be an intense experience,” the hospital says.
The second session was longer than her first; for that attempt on June 12, Williams — who wore longer, blush colored shorts — joked, “I was trying to make Cryotherapy, couture. 🥶 I failed.”
Her cryotherapy session earned rave reviews from fans like Tina Knowles, who gushed, “You look amazing that body oh my!🔥❤️,” while Paris Hilton let the emojis do the talking, writing, “😍.”

More updates are likely on the way, as Williams wrote, “I can’t wait to share my wellness journey with y’all!”
She recently shared that she hit her weight-loss goal after giving birth to her second child with husband Alexis Ohanian, daughter Adira River, in August 2023. The couple were already parents to Alexis Olympia Ohanian Jr., whom they welcomed in 2017.
