On the Thursday, December 21, episode of Selena Gomez’s special Food Network series, Selena + Chef: Home for the Holidays, the star was “caught” texting some “cute boys” during the shoot. The show centers on a recipe the Rare Beauty founder is working on, but it includes the playful banter and fun had by everyone on set.
This time Gomez was making a malva pudding with the help of professional chef Eric Adjepong. After she sets the timer, she teasingly says she’s going to check her phone to “and see if any cute guys texted” her.
She initially says no one has, but then her iPhone makes the telltale sound of a message arriving.
Her best friend and co-host, Raquelle Stevens, then asks, “Sel, who are you texting?”
Gomez appears to blush, before insisting, “Look, it’s hard out there.”

The pop star did say that she had a date later and Stevens then claims she can guess who the texter on the other end might be. It’s not evident when this episode was filmed, but a few weeks ago, Gomez went public with her relationship with producer Benny Blanco. The couple have been together for about six months, so it seems likely Blanco was the “cute boy” Gomez was talking to.
Lopez has called Blanco her “absolute everything,” and that he is the “best thing that’s ever happened” to her and he treats her “better than any human being on this planet.”
In an interview with Vogue México y Latinoamérica that was done before she became public about Blanco, Gomez opened up about what she’s looking for in a relationship.
“It’s very hard to find someone who can listen to you and care about you, but I know when it happens it will be great and you will want it to be healthy,” she said.
