Sarkodie proved why he’s regarded the best Ghanaian rapper of all time when he dissed M.anifest and Shatta with ‘Kanta’ and ‘My Advice’ respectively few years ago.
Granting a new interview with George Quaye on Joy FM, the ‘Highest’ rapper explained what pushed him to diss the pair despite the huge mutual respect he shares with them.
Sarkodie said he looks at the pedigree of an artiste before he shoots back when they throw shots at him.
“There are a lot of shots that come at me but I respond to a few, I look at the Calibre and pedigree of the person throwing the shots and that determines whether I respond or not.”
“With the issue of Manifest, I did it (Kanta) for the fans, I felt like my fans thought I was boring and needed me to respond to Manifest (godMC), there is a lot of respect between myself and Manifest.”
Sarkodie narrated the instances that led to his Advice diss song to Shatta Wale.
According to him, he initially used to laugh when Shatta Wale started calling him poor but his buddy took things too far so he thought it wise to make him apply the brakes with the diss song.
“At first it was funny because I know my brother, he jokes about a lot of things and then it started to get serious so I called him on several occasions but he wouldn’t budge so I found a creative of dealing with the issue.”
“I missed him though.”
