Ghanaian crooner, Gladstorm Akwaboah, has reacted to reports that he has left Sarkodie’s record label, SarkCess Music.
About a week ago, rumours were rife that the ‘Gangsta Lovin’ singer had landed a new record deal after severing his relationship with Sarkodie and his label.
Speaking to Nana Tuffour on Citi TV’s Saturday Live, Akwaboah said his contract with Sarkodie had elapsed but he was yet to finalise things with him so he could officially inform the public that he has left the label.
When asked what role Sarkodie currently plays in his music career, he said: “I wouldn’t say he plays any role now but he once gave me the advice to be me and that has really helped me.”
When asked if he was still with Sark, he said “no”.
“We have a deal and I wouldn’t want to spearhead it [the announcement of the break-up] myself. I want us to finish everything that we are doing then officially announce it,” he noted.
“I am not with Sarkodie because I am doing stuff for myself on my own now. Our contract was three years so we’ve gotten to the point where we are yet to find out whether to continue or break off,” Akwaboah added.
Reports suggest that Akwaboah exited SarkCess Music Record label even before Strongman did.
Akwaboah, who is also a songwriter, was responsible for writing about 90% of the songs on Sarkodie’s ‘Mary album.
After releasing his maiden album ‘Matters of the Heart’ in 2018, he is currently out with a single titled ‘Gangsta Lovin.’
He is also known for songs such as ‘I Do Love You’, ‘Mesan Agye Wo’, ‘Naadu’, among others.
