Sabrina Carpenter is confronting her biggest rival!
On Sunday, June 30, the former Disney star reshared a Pop Crave post about her hit song “Espresso” taking over the top spot on the global Spotify chart, and she had a sassy reaction to the news that she had dethroned herself.
“This bitch, ” Carpenter, 25, wrote on X (formerly Twitter).
Fan accounts on X had equally funny reactions, with one replying to the post to tell the singer it’s “so rude of her” to top herself and urging her to “FIGHT BACK.”
“Not a girls girl if u ask me,” another account joked.
Carpenter has taken her career to the next level in the past year, opening for her friend Taylor Swift for some legs of the megastar’s Eras Tour in 2023 and achieving massive success with “Please Please Please” and “Espresso” ahead of the upcoming release of her album Short n’ Sweet on Aug. 23.
The “Feather” singer recently spoke to Rolling Stone about the massive popularity of “Espresso.”
“My mom has been like, ‘Do you feel crazy right now?’ ” she said of the song’s success. “I just love that people get my sense of humor.”
She also told the outlet she’s not sorry about the song’s extremely catchy chorus.
“I decided to put that burden on other people,” Carpenter joked.
The track, which uses the coffee drink as a metaphor for infatuation, has resulted in a collaboration on an espresso ice cream flavor with Van Leeuwen and won praise from Adele.
