Rob49 has clarified a few details surrounding the shooting that transpired alongside French Montana in January that left 10 people injured.
Rob49 was among those 10 people shot during a gathering with French Montana in Miami, Florida in January. According to reports, the shooting took place outside The Licking restaurant in Miami Gardens, where Rob and French were celebrating the release of their single “Igloo.” Early reports suggested it was a music video shoot, but Rob told HipHopDX in an exclusive interview that it was merely a celebratory gathering.

“We were just chilling and we just wanted to perform the song and shit and celebrate because it was dropping that night,” Rob said. “So we just went to turn up with him. I saw [reports] that it was a music video and I was like alright I’m not even about to clear that up.”

Rob49 resurfaced on Instagram back in February with a set of clips showing him with his right arm in a sling and a bandage on his shoulder while hanging out with some friends.

In one of his videos, Rob smoked a blunt while rocking out to one of his songs. Another video showed him hanging out with some kids while they cheered him on in front of the camera.

“U JUMPIN INAT WATER NIGHA U JUST LIKE ME. BIGGEST VULTURE,” he captioned the post.

French released a heartfelt statement following the shooting, issuing “thoughts and prayers” to the victims.

“Last night, I was in Miami celebrating the release of my CB6 mixtape w/ friends at a local restaurant,” he wrote on Twitter. “We unfortunately were at the wrong place, at the wrong time when an incident took place that left people hurt. Our thoughts & prayers are w/ the victims & families at this time.”

As for Rob49, he said this experience has reinvigorated his creative output, and that he’s soon gonna be flooding the streets with new music.

“You never know man, you gotta go,” Rob said of dropping new tunes. “You gotta go man. Life too short to be holding that shit.”
