Rihanna, Doja Cat & SZA Among Winners At 2023 Webby Awards

Rihanna, Doja Cat, and SZA were among the few musicians and entertainers to be selected as award winners for the 27th annual Webby Awards.

On Tuesday (April 25) the International Academy of Digital Arts & Sciences announced the winners, which saw Rihanna take home the People’s Voice award for fashion, beauty and lifestyle, branded entertainment for her Savage x Fenty Show Vol. 4.

Doja Cat won the award for Best Influencer or Creator Endorsement for her partnership with Taco Bell, while SZA — alongside Tobe Nwigwe and Tracee Ellis Ross — was one of the “special achievement winners.”

The TDE artist was also selected for the 2023 Webby Artist of the Year. The singer, whose SOS album was on top of the Billboard 200 chart for 16 non-consecutive weeks from December 2022 into April, won “for the instant classic SOS, the true intention and consideration she injects into her work, and for her ingenious use of the Internet to share unique, brilliantly honest art.”

“This year’s Webby Winners speak to the incredible potential of the Internet and the people who shape it.” Claire Graves, president of The Webby Awards, said in a statement. “They have set the benchmark for excellence in their respective category and are an inspiration for us all to continue striving towards a more connected and creative digital world.”

Lizzo was also named a recipient of the award for Arts and Entertainment/Social Video for her Emmy-Award-winning BIG GIRLS TV series, in addition to her Womxn’s History Month performance on Amazon Prime.

The awards will be presented at Cipriani Wall Street in New York City on Monday, May 15, with Comedian Roy Wood Jr. returning as the host.

The Webby Awards recognize excellence in websites, mobile websites, video, advertising, media and PR, apps, software, social, podcasts, games, immersive and virtual worlds, and games and metaverses. Nearly 14,000 entries were received this year for the annual award show, which were established in 1996.
