Remy Ma has made it clear that the only emotion she felt about being inadvertently pulled into Cardi B and Nicki Minaj‘s most recent beef is amusement.
In a new interview on The Jason Lee Show, Rem was asked about the November 2022 spat that saw Cardi troll her rival by using a photo of her fellow Bronx spitter as her Twitter avatar.
The move was a call back to Remy Ma’s 2017 beef, during which she infamously went after the self-professed Queen of Rap with the diss track “SHether.” While Nicki didn’t directly respond to the song, she appeared to take a few jabs at her on “No Frauds” featuring Drake and Lil Wayne.
Remy told Jason Lee that she didn’t feel the move from Cardi B called for her to respond or react in any way. “I ain’t catch a stray, hold on be clear,” she said. “I was at home, waiting with my notifications on.”
Despite Remy Ma’s decision not to even address the profile picture — which was a response to Nicki Minaj using JT from the City Girls as an avatar in the midst of her Twitter beef with Cardi — the Terror Squad rapper’s fans had plenty to say about it. Especially in light of the fact that the photo remained unchanged for weeks.
“You know how many ask me [about it]?,” Remy shared. “There’s a petition out [there] like, ‘Oh we need your picture off her page.’ And I’m like, one: I don’t care, at all. But I fuck with Cardi, like for years.”
Speaking to Wendy Williams in 2018, the “All The Way Up” rapper claimed to bear no ill feelings towards Nicki Minaj. In the same interview, she professed her love for Cardi B, revealing that the two have a relationship rooted in positivity and mutual support.
“When we usually speak, it’s not like a whole gossip thing or whatever,” she said. “It’s usually always words of encouragement. ‘Girl, don’t worry about that. Girl, this will blow over.’ Or, ‘You look great in Paris. Congratulations on the baby.’ Things like that.
“I don’t think either one of us really dwells on the negative stuff,” Remy continued. “So much positive things is going on in both of our lives right now that we have way more positive than negative to talk about.”
Still, weeks later, Rem appeared to mock yet another incident that found Nicki Minaj and Cardi B at odds, during a segment of her since cancelled REVOLT show State of the Culture. While discussing the topic with her co-hosts Joe Budden and Scottie Beam, a noticeably bored Remy made it clear she was tired of the topic.
“I’m different,” Remy remarked. “I’m not going to keep arguing with somebody. I don’t want to hear this. The part that made it the corniest, after everything for a whole 15 hours, they’re both like okay, let’s be friends now!”
Remy Ma isn’t the only artist to be asked to weigh in on the longstanding rivalry between the two New York MCs.
During a recent interview with Billboard, 50 Cent revealed that he enjoys watching their back and forth, adding that he loved watching Minaj get upset because it shows her roots from their shared hometown of Queens.
“Lyrically, I won’t say anything competitively about the two of them, but I love Nicki. I don’t have anything against Cardi. I think anyone who comes now, she is going to check their temperature. Nicki is going to check if this bitch is friendly or looking to take over the shit.”
