QUESTLOVE, ERYKAH BADU & MORE MOURN DEATH OF TINA TURNER AS SINGER DIES AGED 83
Questlove, Erykah Badu, Fat Joe and many others have paid tribute to singer Tina Turner, who has passed away at the age of 83.
The Rock & Roll Hall of Famer (real name Anna Mae Bullock) died peacefully at her home in Küsnacht, Switzerland on Wednesday (May 24), as confirmed by her official Instagram page.
“It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Tina Turner,” the statement read. “With her music and her boundless passion for life, she enchanted millions of fans around the world and inspired the stars of tomorrow. Today we say goodbye to a dear friend who leaves us all her greatest work: her music. All our heartfelt compassion goes out to her family. Tina, we will miss you dearly.”
According to BBC News, Turner had dealt with a number of health complications over the years, including cancer, a stroke and kidney failure.
Questlove paid tribute to music icon and acknowledged her duality as a human being, writing: “Survivor. The King & Queen. She was everything. Man…. This is one of the figures I just knew would live in her 3 digits. I was not prepared to say goodbye to Tina Turner. But it’s 2023……and here we are. What an AMAZING life. Love you forever Tina Turner. Rest In Melody.”
Erykah Badu shared her own tribute, sharing a news article about Turner’s death on Instagram. “Cultural Icon down. Safe Journey Anna Mae Bullock . You were HERE ,” she captioned her post.
Fat Joe also took a moment to share a heartfelt tribute to the late singer, remembering how she cleared a sample of her huge hit “What’s Love Got to Do With It” for him. “‘She doesn’t clear her music’!!!! Wait who’s it for “FATJOE”??? absolutely she loves him!! Thank you for all the inspiration we love you RIP Legend

Tina Turner’s music career started alongside her ex-husband Ike Turner and The Ikettes which birthed soul classics such as “Proud Mary” and “Rolling On The River.” After ending her tumultuous marriage to Ike in the 1970s, she went on to find more success as a solo act in the 1980s and 1990s.
The Queen of Rock ‘n’ Roll’s music has been sampled extensively across the Hip Hop landscape, with her 1984 hit “What’s Love Got To Do With It,” being flipped by The Notorious B.I.G. on “Machine Gun Funk,” and on “What’s Luv?” by Fat Joe and Ashanti. She also released other solo hits including, “Private Dancer,” and “The Best.”
She also inspired future R&B acts such as Beyonce, Janet Jackson, and Ciara with her sultry moves, fiery style, and energetic stage presence.
