Only thieves declare election results at night – Prophet Kobi jabs NPP

Founder and Leader of the Glorious Wave Chapel International, Prophet Emmanuel Badu Kobi has branded members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) as thieves for declaring 2016 election results at night.

Prophesying outcomes of events for 2019 during the 31st December night service to his congregants, the outspoken Prophet said the recent election that saw then flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo winning, was heavily rigged.

Being known for his strong critiquing of the incumbent government, he accused the NPP of rigging the elections on the blind side of the members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) who were fast asleep during the process.

“By the time NDC got up it was over. They were sleeping. Great man Joshua Akamba and his people were asleep and by the time they got up, it was over! Only thieves declare elections in the night,” he chided.

According to the renowned man of God, apart from 2000 and 2008 elections, all the other elections held in the country witnessed some sort of irregularities.

Mr. Badu further explained that, “2016 was not genuine, 2012 was not genuine, 2004 they stole it but 2000 nobody tampered with it. 1992 stole, 1996 stolen…I’m saying it on Facebook. I’m not afraid. Let those who say they’ve not stolen come to me and I’ll show them how they stole it.”

Background

The NPP declared itself winners in the 2016 elections, hours before the Electoral Commission collated the final results, and called on Mahama to concede defeat.

The then-opposition party claimed results collated show its candidate was in a commanding lead and called on the EC to declare the results, a move that was condemned by the EC and the NDC.

At the end of the polls, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo had 5,755,758 votes representing 53.72% to beat former President John Dramani Mahama who had 4,771,188 (44.53%).

That was the first time in Ghana’s political history that a sitting president had been ousted from office.
