NUGS lauds ECOWAS for donating 2,750 tonnes of cereals to support Free SHS
The National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS) has commended the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) for donating 2,750 tonnes of cereals to support government’s school feeding program under the Free SHS policy.
ECOWAS on January 2 donated cereals comprising of 1,000 tonnes of maize, 750 tonnes of white rice, 500 tonnes of millet and 500 tonnes of sorghum to help government refill the warehouse grain.
In a statement issued and signed by the President of NUGS, Tinkaro Asare Osei said the donation by ECOWAS will go a long way to promote the Free SHS policy.
He further urged the Free SHS Secretariat and National Food Buffer Stock Company to fairly distribute the cereals and make sure they serve the intended purpose of feeding students.

NUGS LAUDS ECOWAS FOR DONATING 2750 TONNES OF CEREALS TO SUPPORT FREE SHS POLICY.
The National Union of Ghana students wishes to use this opportunity to applaud the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) for donating 2750 tonnes of cereals to the Government of Ghana and the Free Senior High School (SHS) Policy to boost the success of students at the Senior High School level.
The donation from ECOWAS which comprises of 1,000 tonnes of maize, 750 tonnes of white rice, 500 tonnes of millet and 500 tonnes of sorghum, will go a long way in promoting the Free Senior High Policy.
NUGS encourages the stakeholders of the Free SHS Policy to fairly distribute the donation to the appropriate quarters so it can be of benefit to the students of Ghana.
NUGS also urges the Free SHS Secretariat and the National Food Buffer Stock Company (NAFCO) to put measures in place to ensure that school authorities make quality use of it.
NUGS wishes to encourage students of Ghana to channel all challenges faced to the National Secretariat in order to ensure that adequate measures are put in place to address them.
