NPP’s Kojo Asemanyi ‘Atopa’ dance causes stir on social media
The Member of Parliament for the Gomoa East Constituency, Hon Kojo Asemanyi is currently trending after his “atopa” tape found its way onto social media.
The lawmaker joined the chiefs and people of Gomoa Fetteh to celebrate its Ahobaakese festival climaxed with the infamous Atopa dance known in local parlance as Akosualontoba which is enjoyed by many who attend the festival.
The Hon. member is seen in a video showcasing his expertise in the dance which was captured by some media persons at the event.
The sexually suggestive dance has however been given varying interpretations with sections calling for its ban arguing on moral grounds.
But the Queen Mother of the town Nana Abena Owusu explained it is an age-old dance and was a way the wives in the community danced to meet their husbands who had returned from war victories in the olden days.
