The rapper was fatally shot outside his Marathon Clothing Company store in Los Angeles on March 31, 2019, aged 33. Hussle, whose legal name is Ermias Asghedom, had just released his debut album, which earned him his first Grammy nomination.

The talented musician has recently been honored throughout You People. The comedy, written by Jonah Hill and Kenya Barris, stars some of Hollywood’s favorite actors, including Lauren London.
Lauren London plays the main role of Amira Mohammed in Netflix’s You People. The 38-year-old used her role to honor the late rapper and fans have picked up on the many tributes.
In the scene, Amira is driving with Jonah Hill’s character, Ezra as the passenger. She takes them through the streets of South Los Angeles. A few moments later the camera pans to a tribute to Nipsey Hussle, which shows some wall art of Nipsey’s profile. Across the wall is his name painted in white, with the words TMC, which stands for The Marathon Continues.
The camera then flicks to billboards and street signs that they pass. One of which is for Slauson Avenue, where Nipsey Hussle’s Marathon Clothing store is based.
Later on in the movie, Ezra can be seen talking to Eddie Murphy’s character Akbar and Nia Long’s Fatima. In hopes of impressing Amira’s parents, he tells them what he gets up to on this side of the neighborhood. Ezra explains that he sometimes visits the Marathon store and grabs “a hoodie and some socks.”
Nipsey Hussle also features on the film’s soundtrack, as the tune “Last Time That I Checc’d – Nipsey Hussle feat. YG” plays. This was also noted by fans as a tribute to the late rapper.
