PEOPLE can also reveal the show will include a special tribute to Chita Rivera featuring Audra McDonald, Brian Stokes Mitchell and Bebe Neuwirth
Nicole Scherzinger has been added to the lineup of performers for the 2024 Tony Awards, PEOPLE can exclusively reveal.
The powerhouse vocalist and Masked Singer judge — who will be making her Broadway debut in a revival of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Sunset Boulevard this fall — has been selected to sing during the show’s emotional In Memoriam segment, which honors those who have died in the theater community over the past year.
Brooke Shields will present the segment. Those expected to be remembered include Christopher Durang, Louis Gossett Jr., Hinton Battle, Maurice Hines, Andre Braugher, Suzanne Somers, Michael McGrath, Jimmy Buffett, Ron Cephas Jones, Alan Arkin, Paul Reubens, Glenda Jackson, Treat Williams and Illinoise production stage manager Thomas J. Gates.
Chita Rivera is likely to also be included, though PEOPLE can also reveal there will be a special tribute to the Broadway legend, who died in January at the age of 91.
Audra McDonald, Brian Stokes Mitchell and Bebe Neuwirth are leading the segment, which will celebrate more than seven decades of Rivera’s Tony-winning stage work in shows like West Side Story, Guys and Dolls, Can-Can, Merlin and Kiss of the Spider Woman.
Presented by Broadway League and the American Theatre Wing, the 2024 Tony Awards will take place on Sunday, June 16, at Lincoln Center’s David H. Koch Theater in N.Y.C. Viewers can watch the show on CBS and Paramount+ beginning at 8 p.m. ET.
In addition to Scherzinger, McDonald, Mitchell and Neuwirth, other performances will be seen from the casts of the Tony-nominated best musical and best musical revivals: Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club, Hell’s Kitchen, Illinoise, Merrily We Roll Along, Suffs, The Outsiders, The Who’s Tommy and Water for Elephants.
The cast of best play nominee Stereophonic, which follows a 1970s band in the recording studio, will perform a song from its Tony-nominated score, too.
Ariana DeBose is hosting the Tonys for the third time. She’ll be joined by a starry list of presenters including Nate Burleson, Cynthia Erivo, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Josh Gad, Renée Elise Goldsberry, Sean Hayes, Taraji P. Henson, Jennifer Hudson, Angelina Jolie, Nick Jonas, Idina Menzel, Ashley Park, Jim Parsons, Wendell Pierce, Ben Platt, Anthony Ramos, Andrew Rannells, Solomon Thomas, Taylor Tomlinson, Pete Townshend, Tamara Tunie, Adrienne Warren, Patrick Wilson and Jeffrey Wright.
Broadway vets Julianne Hough (POTUS) and Utkarsh Ambudkar (Freestyle Love Supreme) will present, too. Earlier in the evening, the Emmy winning Dancing with the Stars host and Ghosts star will host The Tony Awards: Act One, a live pre-show where select awards will also be handed out. Viewers can stream that beginning at 6:30 p.m. ET on Pluto TV, the leading free streaming television service.
