Prior to this, Nicki treated her fans to a snippet of the new song and its official artwork. On February 23, the “Super Bass” raptress previewed her new track via Instagram. Fans immediately recognized the sample from Lumidee’s 2003 summer anthem, “Never Leave You (Uh-Oh)”.
According to a follow-up Instagram post, the song will arrive on March 3 on the season premiere of Nicki’s Queen Radio. “Official artwork #RedRubyDaSleeze,” Nicki captioned the post. “Coming on 3/3 #QueenRadio 3/3 @ 3pm pst S/o to @skeng.don for making that lil vid happen that we shot last night in TRINI!!!! #RattyGang & Beetham RastaCity 7family grung yktv. The new single follows Nicki’s recent guest appearance on Trinidadian stars Machel Montano and Destra’s “Shake The Place (Remix)”. While there’s no confirmation, all signs seem to point to the New York native officially gearing up for the follow-up to her 2018 album, “Queen”.
As for a new album, Nicki previously said one would arrive before the end of 2022, and that she expedited the process because of “Super Freaky Girl’s” success. However, an album has yet to arrive.
“I wasn’t sure how I was even feeling about having to put out an album this year, but that song happening and people liking it, that made me happy,” Nicki told Interview Magazine at the time. “People have gone through so much recently that they want to have fun. It’ll probably expedite the album to come out this year.”
