Nicki Minaj Gets Freaky With Alexander Ludwig In ‘Super Freaky Girl’ Video

Nicki Minaj has given her latest single “Super Freaky Girl” a colorful visual accompaniment, mere days after the single debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 — see it below.

The visual follows Nicki Minaj as she traverses around her lush, pink neighborhood alongside Canadian actor Alexander Ludwig, who plays her love interest and who fans might recognize from The Hunger Games and History Channel series Vikings.

The Young Money superstar teased the video on Wednesday (August 31) while eviscerating a New York Post reporter who had penned an article detailing Minaj’s beefs from over the years. The article went live moments before Minaj was set to be honored as the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award recipient at the 2022 MTV Video Music Awards.

“You should write about your feuds with the ugly stick,” Minaj appeared to write in a DM sent to journalist Chuck Arnold (via The Shade Room). “Clearly it’s been beating the fuck out of your ugly ass.”

She continued: “Who’s ready for the #SuperFreakyGirl video?!?!!??!?!? It could be today. It could be tomar… The HELP already asking their team to write up a press release to come out @ the same time chi *laughing emoji* nah they learned their lesson.”

Iggy Azalea also criticized the story, which claimed Azalea had insulted Minaj after her 2010 BET Awards performance and that Minaj had cryptically replied to her while accepting a BET Award four years later.

“Why am I on this?” Azalea asked on Twitter. “We’ve never said anything bad about one another. Y’all weird.”

“Super Freaky Girl” is the latest in a line of singles the Pinkprint rapper has dropped off since starting off 2022 with her Lil Baby-assisted “Do We Have A Problem?” and “Bussin” in addition to her collaborations with Fivio Foreign and HipHopDX’s 2022 Rising Star Coi Leray. “Do We Have A Problem?” even ended up winning Best Hip-Hop Video at the VMA’s.

Nicki Minaj had reportedly been holding onto “Super Freaky Girl” for a while but said in a February interview with The Dana Cortez Show that she didn’t feel right releasing vulgar music while pregnant with her son.

“My label wanted me to go full out with a single and everything when I was pregnant, and I couldn’t bring myself to put out a song about pussy and dicks and sucking and eating,” she explained. “I couldn’t bring myself to put a record out like that while my son was growing in my body!”

She added: “Nothing wrong with anybody who’s able to do it, but with me, I just felt in a very different, new space.”

Meanwhile, Nicki Minaj is stuck in the middle of a lawsuit between Mattel and Rap Snacks over the rapper’s tailor-made potato chips — although she’s not a defendant in the suit.

According to AllHipHop, Mattel filed a lawsuit against Rap Snacks on August 8 alleging the food company didn’t clear the use of its Barbie trademark for Nicki Minaj’s Barbie-Que Honey Truffle Chips that launched in July.

The Mattel lawsuit reportedly includes “one count of federal unfair competition and false designation of origin, one count of federal trademark dilution, and a singular count of state unfair competition violation.”
