Mzbel breaks lid on how she fell out with VGMA organisers

Controversial female artiste Belinda Nana Ekua Amoah, popularly known as Mzbel, has revealed that organisers of the Ghana Music Awards, now Vodafone Ghana Music Awards, have cut her out of the scheme.

This, she said, is due to some issues she had with them some time in the past.

According to her, the issues started when she complained about her 2005 hit song ‘I6 Years’ not winning an award at the 2006 edition of the awards, and that, she said, was the beginning of their sour relationship.

She explained to Johnnie Hughes on TV3’s New Day that aside the fact that she does not have any new works to file for this year’s VGMAs, she does not have a good relationship with the organizers.

“And even way before and after we sorted it out, it’s like they cut me out,” she said

“Because we had issues, I remember as far back as 2006, I complained about ‘16 years’ not winning an award and every time they will nominate me and the panelists will go on TV and discredit me, and the people have to vote and you don’t expect people to vote for me,” she complained.

She said even though she was once friends with organizers, they “fell out” along the way.

Now the host of a sex-and-relationship talk show on Onua 95.1 FM, the love goddess as she is affectionately dscribed, hinted she has put her music on hold to pursue other things including a production house she owns.
