Sunyani-based singer, Imrana has revealed how unenthused his father was when he decided to venture into music.
The ‘Imagine Say’ composer told Suncity 97.1 FM’s Melvina Frimpong Manso in an interview which was monitored by www.newshuntermag.com, that his musical journey has not been easy.
“The music journey hasn’t been easy. My mum was a singer…so she understood me but my dad was not in support of my dreadlocks. At first, my father wanted me to do a different thing. He was searching for jobs for me to do…but I chose music,” he passionately stated.
Despite receiving calls and applauds from Samini, Sarkodie, Adebayor, Akwaboah, Fameye, Prince Dovlo and other renown personalities after his ‘Imagine Say’ song went viral, Imrana stressed that fame will not change his persona.
He indicated that deferring from school due to financial issues did not stop him from achieving what he wanted.
“I started music in 2017 after I deferred from Polytechnic. It was due to money issues. I won an award at the Senior High School (SHS) for writing songs. Samini has been my inspiration. I listened to him during childhood. I use to perform Stonebwoy and Samini songs. I started as a rapper…and a bit of dancehall. I write my own songs. I wanted people to invest in me but it didn’t materialize,” Imrana pointed out.
He was hopeful all the things that he is imagining will come to reality one day with the support from people.
