My career died because of Kwabena Kwabena – Nana Kontihene

Veteran highlife musician, Nana Kontihene has revealed that his downfall and failure in the music industry was all because of his colleague Kwabena Kwabena.

According to the highlife rapper, he was a huge influence on Kwabena Kwabena’s successful career but he went on to become bigger than him.

To recall, the two appeared together on Kwabena Kwabena’s breakout single ‘Aso’, which cemented the singer as one of the premier singers in the industry.

Kwabena Kwabena after the release of that single hit never looked back from there whilst Kontihene became a nobody and irrelevant.

Kontihene who is now disappointed for his action back then claims he devoted a lot of his time and energy in those days to promote Kwabena Kwabena whilst he put his own career on pause and that is why his career went down the drain.

Speaking in an interview on Daybreak Hitz with Andy Dosty, Kontihene stated that he thought he could create his own empire by bringing up other stars.

“I wanted to create an empire with strong talents sprouting from it but it turned out to be the opposite,” he said.

“I think it was stupid for me to put my career on hold…I could have used the energy to do something else.

“I had to start [my career] all over again after that,” he concluded.

However, with all those claims from Nana Kontihene admitting a pivotal role in Kwabena Kwabena’s career, the latter has debunked all those allegations saying Kontihene only featured on his song but was not the driving force behind his success.

For every Shatta Wale or Stonebwoy in Ghanaian music, there are 100 other artistes who never made it into the limelight.

And for every Samini and Sarkodie, there are also a few artists who were once the ‘ish’ but then became irrelevant after having their 15 minutes of fame in the limelight.
