Musician Daniel Agyin grabs two awards

Gospel artiste, Daniel Agyin, popularly known as ‘Goldman’ has been adjudged the best song writer, and male vocalist of the year at the Ghana National Gospel Awards (NGMA) held at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in the Ashanti regional capital.

The event was aimed at promoting gospel music and awarding gospel artistes who have contributed immensely to the entertainment industry.

Daniel Agyin, who is also the Deputy Director of Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA), contested with Joe Mettle, Nacee, Ernest Opoku, Akese Brempong and Isaac Kobby for the male vocalist category.

Other contenders for the best songwriters category included: Hannah Marfo, Joe Mettle, Piesie Esther, Faffa and Akesse Brempong.

In an interview with The Spectator, Daniel explained that he felt honoured to win the awards and that he saw it as a challenge for him to work harder. “The competition was very challenging, but thank God I grabbed two awards,” he added.

According to him, he was surprised but happy because there were gospel artistes in his category who had made history in the music industry and it was also an indication that attention was paid to his work, which had yielded positive results in the end.

The gospel artiste, who has released songs such as ‘Ayeyindwom’ and Asem, urged gospel artistes to support one another in order to play effective and efficient roles in winning souls for the kingdom.

He advised his collegues to get familiar with modern techniques of marketing to enable them reach wider audience.
