Veteran highlife musician, Rex Omar has stated that the Music industry will be no more should Highlife artistes stop churning out music.
In Facebook post sighted by Kasapafmonline, the ‘Abiba’ hitmaker who in recent times started a campaign to release songs every month is optimistic that Highlife music in Ghana is the only genre sustaining the music industry.
“Our music industry will be dead if we the Hilife singers stop releasing music” Rex Omar posted on his Facebook Timeline.
Omar, one of the favourite Ghanaian highlife artist, first rose to prominence in 1989 with the Aware Pa album. Following this, in 1992 he formed the Highlife Supergroup Nakorex together with fellow Highlife artists Nat Brew and Akosua Agyapong, the group’s name being an acronym made up of the first letters of each member’s name.
As an advocate of Highlife Music in Ghana, Rex Omar has encouraged young and talented artistes to push the Highlife agenda.
