Former skipper of the Black Stars, Asamoah Gyan- who is now acting as the General captain of the team, has been enstooled as a chief in Hohoe in the Volta Region of Ghana.
Gyan’s title is the Ngoriya-Doemenyotor of the St. Francis College of Education and the Gbi Traditional Area. The player’s philanthropic gesture for the people of the area, most importantly after solving an age-long water crisis, impressed the opinion leaders of the town, leading to his installation.
The former Sunderland player also funded the construction of a mechanized borehole in the school at a cost of $3000.
