MONEYBAGG YO OPENS UP ABOUT BABY MOTHER’S DEATH: ‘I INSTANTLY BROKE DOWN

Moneybagg Yo has opened up for the first time about the sudden death of his baby mother last year, saying it was devastating to him and his whole family.

The Memphis rapper spoke about the tragic incident in an interview with Angie Martinez’ IRL podcast, revealing he “instantly broke down” when he learned that Kennedy Lynette (a.k.a. Chyna Santana) had passed away.

Bagg, who is a father of eight with four different women, said that the three kids they share together now live with him full time and that he maintains full custody of them.

“She was murdered. She was killed by somebody that she was with,” he said. “It was shocking. I was in Atlanta, recording, working on the tape and they just called me… I ain’t gonna get as deep as I can, but that’s the picture. I instantly broke down, I couldn’t believe it.

“I was more mad at her than anything, I was like, ‘How you let this happen? How you let your kids’ — and it was so crazy ’cause when I talked to my daughter, she was just telling me at the airport, ‘I told my mama not to go.’”

He continued: “This is when I broke down. I was like, ‘Damn, what I’m finna say?’ So I ended up letting the steam out, cry baby. I call my daughter and I was just like, ‘What you doing? Where y’all at?’ And she said, ‘It happened?’ That’s exactly what she said.

“Her mom was supposed to have been with her that night, but she never came back. She was like, ‘It happened?’…I just didn’t know how to tell [her]. I was like, ‘My mama finna come get y’all.’ That’s all I could say…It’s hard to talk about right now, but I’m a strong man. I’m dealing with it. I’m getting through it.”

Word of Santana’s death hit social media last May after a friend of the mother-of-three tweeted about the tragic news.

“Im so sickkkk,” someone named Jessica Summers wrote on Facebook. “Im heart hurting so bad dude. I was just otp with you my sister. Why you had to do me like that.!!!!! Kennedy Leynettee why you leave me.”

While the loss still weighs heavily on his heart, Moneybagg Yo is currently getting ready to drop his new project Hard To Love: Heartless Edition on June 2, which he pushed back from its initial May 26 release date after claiming he didn’t want to compete with Taylor Swift.

“I just got the news, my little baby Taylor dropping tonight,” the Bread Gang boss said in a video posted to Instagram. “I ain’t gonna lie y’all know how I feel about Taylor man so I think I’m gonna push ‘Hard 2 Love’ back just a few days y’all be patient with me. Let Taylor have this shit.”

Fans were quick to flood the comments section with their disappointment, with some even suggesting the real reason behind the delay was because hewas scared to face off against Lil Durk and Kodak Black, who dropped off their new projects Almost Healed and Pistolz & Pearlz on May 26, respectively.
