It’s the time of the year when Time unveiled its picks of 100 Most Influential People in the World. Named among the honorees this year are the likes of Michael B. Jordan, Doja Cat and Beyonce Knowles.
The list includes individuals that the outlet perceives as holding sway, including comedians, sports stars, authors and other influential figures, that are divided into six different categories. The “Creed III” star and director is listed among the influential “Artists” along with Oscar nominees Austin Butler and Colin Farrell as well as Drew Barrymore, Aubrey Plaza, Salma Hayek, Zoe Saldana and Lea Michele.
Doja, who has been making headlines lately with her shocking looks and social media posts, is hailed as “Pioneers” alongside model Bella Hadid and fashion designer Thom Browne. Meanwhile, Grammy Award winner Beyonce is put into “Titans” category with Golden Award-winning actress Angela Bassett, athletes Lionel Messi and Patrick Mahomes II, model and TV host Padma Lakshmi as well as business magnate Elon Musk.
Oscar winner Ke Huy Quan makes into the list as one of the “Icons” along with fellow actors Jennifer Coolidge and Pedro Pascal, female basketball player Brittney Griner, Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan and British royal King Charles.
The list additionally honors “Leaders” such as Olena Zelenska, the current First Lady of Ukraine, and current U.S. President Joe Biden, as well as “Innovators”, namely Disney CEO Bob Iger, French soccer star Kylian Mbappe, Emmy-nominated actress Natasha Lyonne and comedian Jerrod Carmichael.
The annual list was first published in 1999. Nominations are secured from Time 100 alumni and the international writing staff. The final list is exclusively chosen by Time editors. Those making into the list are usually celebrated in a commemorative gala.
