Megan Thee Stallion’s Estranged 1501 Label Boss Weighs In On Court Case

Drake is known for betting big when it comes to sporting events, and the World Cup is no different as the OVO hitmaker has put down $1million on Argentina to beat France.

The World Cup final takes place on Sunday (December 18) at Qatar’s Lusail Iconic Stadium, and according to Drizzy’s Instagram post on Saturday (December 17), he’s going all in on Lionel Messi and the rest of his Argentine teammates.

“@roshtein my bet is in for tmrw @stake [three party face emojis],” Drake captioned his seven-figure wager, tagging Roshtein (real name Ishmael Schwartz), the popular casino streamer. If Argentina win, Drake’s estimate payout will be around $2,750,000.

Roshtein later posted his own wager, opting instead to support France. Also putting down $1million, his estimated payout will be around $2,850,000.

Some fans believe Drake has now jinxed Argentina due to the notorious ‘Drake curse’ which relates to the rapper garnering a reputation for being a bad luck charm after posing with athletes or their team’s shirt.

FC Barcelona fell victim to the curse back in October after the rapper betted on them to win their game against Real Madrid. Barcelona even wore a special kit dedicated to the Drizzy featuring the OVO owl as part of their sponsorship with Spotify.

Another soccer team that seemingly fell victim to the ‘Drake curse’ was England’s Manchester City who exited the Champions League after the Toronto rapper posed with their player Sergio Aguero.

In other sports, the Alabama Crimson Tide were defeated by the Clemson Tigers in the 2019 College Football Playoff National Championship after Drizzy wore an Alabama hoodie prior to the game.

Drake’s sports curse also claimed another victim when previously undefeated boxer Anthony Joshua suffered the first loss of his professional career against Andy Ruiz Jr. in June, 2019.

Meanwhile, Drake and Lil Baby have closed out the year in a tie for the most Billboard Hot 100 placements of 2022, thanks to record breaking releases by both artists.

The frequent collaborators each nabbed 40 Hot 100 singles this year, including their joint effort as part of DJ Khaled‘s “STAYING ALIVE,” which peaked at the No. 5 in August. The song has also landed on Billboard’s Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs year-end chart.
