Meek Mill has deactivated his Twitter account for good, but not without giving fans an explanation behind his abrupt and permanent exit.
On Sunday (December 18), the Dream Chasers boss shared a tweet explaining that he no longer wants to be a part of the popular social media platform. According to Meek, Twitter has become too negative and not a platform he wants to be active on.
“Ima deactivate Twitter forever and go to a new social where it’s more good vibes based off building, creating and motivation,” he wrote. “Whoever run my shit turn this off forever … ima takeover my YouTube account to replace me interacting with supports! Too many bots and weird people.”
The Philadelphia native then followed through on his promise and deactivated his account. He’s still active on Instagram, though, where he has over 23 million followers.

Meek Mill’s departure comes after a number of controversial changes to Twitter since Elon Musk acquired the platform for $44 billion in October.
The South African-born entrepreneur has come under scrutiny for firing several top executives, banning the promotion of rival social media sites, temporarily suspending journalists who are critical of Twitter and introducing a $19.99 charge for account verification.
The backlash prompted Musk to share a poll on his personal Twitter account on Sunday asking users: “Should I step down as head of Twitter? I will abide by the results of this poll.”
The poll, which has since closed, received over 17.5 million responses, with 57.5 percent of the votes calling for him to step down.
Despite his sudden exit, Meek Mill actually expressed interest in investing in Twitter in May following reports that Musk was planning a multi-billion dollar takeover of the company.
“Elon musk let us invest in Twitter with you ‘big homie,’” he tweeted. Unfortunately for Meek, it appears he never got a reply from Twitter’s current boss.
Diddy, on the other hand, was among the high-powered backers of Musk’s Twitter takeover, investing north of $10 million to help make the deal possible. According to TMZ, the Bad Boy mogul wanted “a seat at the table to represent.”
Meek Mill has also been vocal about his issues with Instagram in the past. In August, the MMG rapper called out the platform for allegedly shadow banning his account. A shadow ban is when a platform blocks a user’s posts from showing up on feeds.
“Who do we pay to turn our social medias back up because they turned our reach all the way down … I need a instagram rep or something asap,” he wrote in hopes of connecting with an Instagram employee.
Meek then accused Instagram and Twitter of controlling how much exposure each of his posts gets. “Been on these apps 10 years 7 days a week … you can tell they being controlled,” he continued. “I could post 10 phones with different account won’t see my post until the next day what is that? And it’s on all my homies pages too?”
