Meek Mill Joins Michael Rubin & Kevin Hart To Donate $7M To Low-Income Philly Students

Meek Mill has joined forces with Kevin Hart and esteemed businessman Michael Rubin to put together a massive donation to help low-income students in the Philadelphia area.

According to a press release, the trio’s $7 million donation will be spread across 60 private and parochial schools. The money in part will be used to offer the students scholarships and provide them with at-home tools such as WiFi, laptops, and tablets.

This marks just the latest collaborative effort Meek and Michael Rubin have undergone as part of their commitment to give back to those in need, which has resulted in a total $17 million in donations across previous years.

The donation comes shortly after the pair joined forces with The Philadelphia Eagles and the 76ers for their holiday “Season Of Giving” event. In partnership with Meek’s REFORM Alliance, more than 30 New York children, all of whom had parents who were unjustly affected by the criminal justice system, were treated to a superstar-filled Christmas.

Meek Mill, La La Anthony and Cordae were just a few celebs on hand to join in the festivities, as the kids were treated to a tour of Barclays Center, a chance to meet New York Liberty players and they even got to watch the game from a suite which had been filled with merchandise and gifts.

Meek Mill also recently took it upon himself to reunite 20 incarcerated Philadelphia women with their families for the holidays by paying for each of their respective bails.

Five of the women, who were all held at the Riverside Correctional Facility in Philadelphia, were released on December 23, while the others were released the following week, the REFORM Alliance said in a press release.

The women also each received a gift card to help them with last-minute holiday or food shopping, and Meek explained that his own experiences as an incarcerated parent inspired him to perform this generous act.

“It was devastating for me to be away from my son during the holidays when I was incarcerated,” Meek Mill explained in the statement. “So I understand what these women and their families are going through. No one should have to spend the holidays in jail simply because they can’t afford bail. I’m grateful for the opportunity to help these women be with their families and loved ones during this special time of year.”
