MAX B CELEBRATES ‘SPECIAL’ CAREER MOMENT ON PRISON CALL WITH FRENCH MONTANA

Max B has earned his first gold plaque from behind bars for his assist on French Montana’s 2013 track “Once In A While.”

The Wave God received the good news during a prison phone call with French Montana on Sunday (May 21), which also served as Max B’s 45th birthday.

“That’s loopy, n-gga. That’s fucking huge,” Biggaveli responded. “That’s going on my wall. That’s my first accolade, man. Oh, man. Thank you, beloved. It’s special, beloved.

“That’s two b-days you outdid me. Damn. That’s two times. You City Island me and you hit me with the gold record. I gotta catch up, bro. I’ll take it I gotta catch up, man. It’s killing me with the birthdays. You got me emotional, n-gga.”

French added in a birthday post dedicated to Max B: “Happy birthday to my brother @maxb140 and Happy 10th year anniversary to Excuse my French All we ever wanted was platinum albums n diamond singles now we got both!”

Max and French are frequent collaborators and “Once In A While” served as the cinematic opener to 2013’s Excuse My French featuring a phone call conversation with the Harlem native. The project served as Montana’s major label debut and the platinum LP peaked at No. 4 on the Billboard 200.

Earlier this year, French Montana claimed that Max B would be released from prison at some point in 2023.

With his freedom on the horizon, Max B called on producers to flood him with beats as he prepares to hit the ground running in the music scene.

“Ayo this the Don Veli,” he began. “I’m calling you n-ggas out, I’m calling out all ya’ll producers. I’m bout to get ready to hit the scene in a minute. Gimme some tracks. Get them shits to my man Black so we can wave up. Imma have that shit already lined up. We wave up, we go to the studio, we make history. I need waves. Get me loopy. I want that new sound. Out, fuck with ya boy Max Biggavel EMG boss n-gga. Wavy.”

In 2009, Max B was sentenced to 75 years behind bars for his alleged involvement in an armed robbery gone wrong. He was charged with conspiracy related to armed robbery, kidnapping, aggravated assault and felony murder.

The Harlem-born rapper is alleged to have plotted to rob two men with his stepbrother, Kelvin Leerdam, and ex-girlfriend, Gina Conway, at a Holiday Inn in New Jersey in September 2006. The botched robbery resulted in one of the men being shot dead.

Max had his sentence substantially reduced to 20 years in 2016 after taking a plea deal, before announcing three years later that it had been further cut to 12 years.
