Some Ghanaian social media users have descended on the Majority Leader of Parliament, Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu, for describing John Mahama as Ghana’s worst president in the last 30 years.
Mr. Mensah Bonsu believes the country saw little progress during the tenure of Mahama and the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
The Minister of Parliamentary Affairs argued that Ghana’s economy grew by only 2.2% in 2016, when Mahama was president.
However, it seems not many Ghanaians are enthused with the utterances of the Majority Leader.
Many Ghanaians on social media have, therefore, hit out at Mr. Mensah Bonsu for making such a statement.
Some believe the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) has not done any better than the erstwhile NDC government, while others insist the Majority Leaser’s statement is disrespectful to ex-president Mahama.
One Facebook user wrote: “The worst president built hospitals and schools for your Nana do little to come commission it. God see the truth but he wait.”
Another said: “People lost their senses when they are in position ooooo. I wonder. You are not able to clean your home and you are telling someone his home is dirty. Pity.”
A third person added: “That MP, Kyei mensah Bonsu is the worst minister and MP in Ghana, he is incompetent, come to Suame,Maakro and see he is disgrace to Asante kingdom.”
One other guy said: “If your use of the word “worst” is synonymous with the level infrastructural development in the road, health, education, agric n all other sectors compared to the shambolic FSHS, cathedral, drone deals and the recent attempt to swindle us in the OSLO chancery deal, then I wonder what word will be used for u when you exit with the corrupt deals all over. Remember you’ve not proven any of Mahama’s corruption. Time dey pass o.”
