LIL WAYNE IS NOW A PLAYABLE CHARACTER IN ‘NBA 2K23’

Lil Wayne is now a playable character in NBA 2K23 and joins a stacked rap roster that includes J. Cole and Jack Harlow.

NBA 2K unveiled Weezy as the latest playable character in the video game’s MyTEAM mode’s Crossover series via a trailer posted to Instagram on Thursday (February 16). The video shows a digitized Tunechi dribbling the ball and nailing a slam dunk while donning the colors of his favorite team, the Los Angeles Lakers.

Lil Wayne also posted a behind-the-scenes clip showing what it took for him to join the 2K universe. He can be seen sitting in a chair surrounded by multiple cameras at a 360-degree angle to help capture every detail of his likeness. The photos are then transferred to a computer, where developers begin adding him to the game.

Despite his relatively diminutive height, Weezy boasts an impressive 89 overall rating in 2K23 and can play as a point guard or shooting guard.

Jack Harlow and J. Cole joined the game as playable characters last November, and both were given solid 89 overall ratings in the game.

Cole was also unveiled as the cover star for the DREAMER Edition of NBA 2K23, becoming the first rapper to grace the cover of the popular video game franchise.

“NBA 2K has long been a place to discover new musical talent through their game and continues to be a gold standard for showcasing all things basketball culture,” Cole said in a statement. “It’s been an amazing journey to not only appear on a cover of this year’s game, but to be part of the MyCAREER storyline, soundtrack and bring the DREAMER brand into NBA 2K.”

Away from the 2K universe, Lil Wayne is currently gearing up to hit the road on his recently announced Welcome To Tha Carter Tour. The 28-city trek kicks off on April 4 in Minneapolis and wraps up on May 13 in Los Angeles. Tickets are on sale now via Live Nation.

The tour comes as Tunechi remains hard at work on his new album, Tha Carter 6, which he announced during his Young Money reunion performance with Drake and Nicki Minaj at October World Weekend festival last summer.

The New Orleans native has only added to the excitement for the highly-anticipated project by hitting the studio with the likes of Wyclef Jean and Juelz Santana, both of whom he’s collaborated with on hits in the past.

Meanwhile, Lil Wayne continued to show his Lakers fandom earlier this month by congratulating LeBron James on breaking Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s NBA scoring record, which had stood for almost 40 years. LBJ dropped 38 points against the Oklahoma City Thunder on February 7, bring his career total to 38,390 points.

“Kongrats King!! Glad to say I’ve shaken your hand brudda,” Tunechi tweeted after the game. “God bless you and the fam and the homies.”
